Up here again this year for a month. So far the hottest day has been 85 but most days around 75. Today 71 was the high.
The fishing is off the hook here. We average about 35 smallmouth a day and the largest has been 5.4. Most around 2 lbs. this is our second year and we finally have figured out how to catch walleye. Those are the meat fish!
We go every morning and catch our limit of walleye then bass fish. [Linked Image]

We are at Lake Vermilion. Staying at a campground called McKinley park.

Good old Vermillion!

I've caught many many fish off that lake. Spent Summer's with my Grandparents and would fish Vermillion with crawler harnesses for perch and walleye. Best daggum eating fish around.

Is it too late to go this year? Or has the best fishing over until next year. My wife wants to fish, but she can’t take the heat anymore and Vermillion sounds great

It’s not to late at all.September fishing is outstanding for fish alleys and small mouths. And they tell me October is even better.

Depends on time of year. If it’s June then Mille Lacs is nuts for big fish and numbers. July and August gets tougher by the day.
Vermilion smallies are not as large on average. Lots of 2 and 3 lbers up to 6lbs. But the numbers are a lot bigger.

Awesome fish! I'm your neighbor in North Dakota but working. Cooler temps make it easier to head back to work! For another couple months anyway......

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

Dang I’m glad to be back in Texas. I was getting tired of 80degree days and 30 to 40 fish a day.
Next year we are staying 3 months!
