For the past couple of weeks I’ve found huge schools of shad around Culp Island, the original 455 road bed and in Campers Cove in the evenings. Usually the sandies tear into them the last 2 hours of daylight. For some reason they aren’t. I’ve been trying to introduce my grandsons to fishing and schooling sandies are great action and keeps their interest (my grown sons still talk about catching sandies schooling). The most we have ever caught is 4 which for an 8 and 5 year old is boring.
Anyone having any luck in the evenings?

Went yesterday not much activity. Small and short lived top water action by Culp island. Only got a few off the bottom . Checked many other areas with no results. Talked to a man that had some schooling on the main lake humps early in the am. Our action didn’t start until the sun broke through about 9:30. Not many boats out on the water. Hope the action turns on soon

That’s the same I’ve experienced.
Hopefully this evening will be better.

Lot of deep water on that lake and it makes them kind of hard to target.

Has anyone fished the two humps just south of Isle-de-bois ? They are on same side of the lake as Isle and close to the mouth of the creek that runs east. Close to deep water and held sandies this time of year.

Check out these spots. You can use Google Maps or enter the points into your graphs.
1. 33.366312, -97.031377
2. 33.377937, -97.053246
3. 33.421396, -97.003174
4. 33.406042, -97.088392 --- 33.399158, -97.082745 Run down the shore from the north to SE between the 2 points marked. If you are in the right spot you should see 4 brush piles in a row about 50ish yards apart.

Do something different, you will be surprised what happens.
