Good morning. Guys I have a Ghost trolling motor with spot lock and a Point One antenna as well. But when I hit spot lock the trolling motor pushes the boat back three to four feet before it stays in one position. Even in calm water and you press spot lock on the motor, it still moves in all directions before holding. any and all advise is appreciated. Thanks to all.

You are moving forward a small amount and it locks on the spot you hit. Three foot is. Of very much and can easily happen in calm water. When you hit spot lock those coordinates are locked in but it takes a couple of seconds for the motor to react.

Retirement best job ever.

It's because you are moving. I put the Speed Over Ground PID on my graph and even if I am going .4 mph it will back track a bit. It's kind of annoying but it becomes predictable. It backtracks proportional to the speed you are going. It doesn't do it much if you are .3mph and under.

An option to counter is to throw the TM in reverse before locking in. Or locking it once, turning it off when the TM reacts and immediately re-locking to get your coordinates at the new location (3 ft away).

This is the only way I have found that keeps my ghost from the “backing up and then pulling forward”. The theory that it’s because you are moving forward is BS, I’ve had mine for almost 5 years now and I have been stationary when pressing the anchor button, it still wants to slide back.

Mine does the same thing. I just back up and reset the spotlock a second time when the boat stops moving. That seems to work on mine.
