I have 3 Abu 6500 reels where the line guide sticks on one side and does not move across the spool. When reeling in line it builds up on one side of the spool. In your experience is it usually the worm gear , the pawl, or something else that causes this problem? I have looked at both the pawl and the worm gear and cannot see that either of them is worn or damaged. I'm sure there is a specific part that causes this problem in most cases, so I'm hoping someone can tell me which part it is. Thanks.

If your worm shafts and pawls are OK, turn the reels upside down, and oil the worm shafts after every outing. The pawls need oiling, but not as often. But, after every trip wouldn't hurt anything. IslandJim

I am no expert , but I would bet on it being the pawl. Should be easy and cheap to fix,

Replace the pawl will fix the issue 99% of the time.
