On the water around noon… don’t know if I just found where the fish were or if they just started eating but got into them good from 3:00 until around 5:00..on 5” swimbaits and spinner bait.

Only saw two boats all day and no one within a mile of me.

Caught nearly a dozen and missed a bunch… it was hot.

After reading about power plant fish kill on Welsh, I am guessing I just found and area of good oxygen... as it was exactly where the current from discharge doesnt affect that part of the lake as much... in the winter time, the areas where the grass is dying now is usually a few degrees warmer and where you would normally catch em that time of year. Maybe the grass starts dying off this time of year... I am not sure as I dont normally fish power plant lakes this time of year, unless the fishing elsewhere sucks. roflmao

Looks like a fun afternoon in the Yak.

Fishing thick pads and grass is always fun, when they're biting thumb

Looks like a lot of fun. I wish we had pads in central Texas lakes, the water levels just flatulate too much here.

just trying to catch a fish

Something fishy going on at Martin Creek.. road was closed as they were repairing the small bridge just after you turn off of 43 on to 2658... turned around and drove on down to the state park just to look around.. heard there was a tournament going on, lots of recreational kayakers out for a paddle, decided too many folks for me and left the park... thought about going to Caddo, Pinston, or Murvaul but decided near Tatum I would stay at Martin Creek and took the County Line Road all the way around the lake and launch from where I was headed to begin with... couldnt believe they were widening and replacing the whole damn road for miles... made me think there must be a lot more traffic projected in the near future.. I hadnt been on this road in years but although one lane only each direction, it was paved and never saw hardly any traffic.. they have graded the whole road completely down to dirt and it looks like they are going to redo the whole thing... more damn big equipment parked everywhere...for miles.

This road gives you the best views of lake passing over several small bridges. The problem is there are hardly any places to park and most were taken by bank fishermen. No homes whatsoever in this area... made me wonder why if the power plant is in the works to be shut down in the future and with so little traffic... why is the state spending the big bucks now to make the road 1st class? If the state park is planning for the future I am all for it... if the power plant folks are planning/colluding with representatives to increase the value of the property for the highest bidder... I say someone should check out who is who and how/why this project was approved.

Is the power plant slated for decommissioning? I had heard some that were slated for decommissioning (Like Coleto Creek) are now going to be converted from coal to LNG and keep going. I can only hope that the powers to be in Texas are smart enough to tell the Greenies to go pound sand and stop closing good power plants just so we can sit in the dark during brown/blackouts due to lack of wind and solar power. hmmm
