Mine are give out. Looking for a quality pair to replace them. If you have a recommendation, I’d appreciate it.

I bought a pair of the KVD ones, because they showed him changing hooks and it was like a lightning bolt. I thought WOW, those must be great! They aren’t, they suck and it’s just the typical KVD is better than you type of thing.

funny... I've got a pair of sr pliers somewhere... I don't change hooks that often to ever track them down... I can spin off and back on a new treble hook or two in a minute or so and I'm back in business... my hook hone is a much more important tool that keeps me from having to change out the hooks...generally speaking my plug knocker is the only reason I have to change out a mangled treble - that'll make a mess of a treble hook real quick... lol

My hooks either rust from lack of use, or they get hung in a tree. Either way, my Texas Tackle pliers get very little use.

You don’t need split ring pliers for 99% of bass fishing. Use a pair of needle nose. Before KVD started selling tools, he was using a pair of rusty needle nose from the hardware store (and probably still is) I use my split ring pliers for putting 7/0 hooks onto much larger split rings than you'd ever need for bass. For this, needle nose don’t work as easily, so I reach for my split ring pliers. Now. If you want split ring pliers. Texas tackle makes them, and they’re good.

A guy I traveled with and fished BASS paired up with KVD at Rayburn. Kevin was leading or in second that day, can't remember exactly and was catching them in between two large weed beds on deep diving crankbaits. We met at the ramp and Billy got loaded in his boat. When we were sitting there getting ready to go out I noticed KVD had gotten up and was doing something on the front of his boat. Billy had DD22's and Van Dam had changed out all of his treble hooks to triple grips. I like the Texas Tackle pliers. There are better ones but most cost a lot more. I would recommend you get the middle sized ones for the larger split rings and if you fish offshore I'd recommend looking for some of the large size. When I ordered mine I called him and he only had 2 pair of the large ones left and I bought them both.

Texas pliers
or
Xuron
I have Xuron and feel they get a better grip than the Texas pliers. Not saying the TX pliers are not good, I just prefer the Xuron because of the grip it gets to open the split ring.
