My old gen 2 hds kicked the bucket so I need a new one about all i fish for are cats looking for something with side image and down scan sonar and maps. With all the new stuff out there I have no idea where to start. What should I be looking at brand is not that big of deal to me been looking at Garmin but with all the different transducer out I am lost

Since you are used to HDS stay with what you know. The latest HDS Pro has megahz side and downscan so detail on bottom is fantastic. You learning curve will be short as the navigation through the unit has a similar format assuming you had the Gen2 touch. Besides you got your moneys worth if you had that from new. Go to a bass Pro or Cabelas and play with the HDS they have them on display running. Your power cord and depending on what transducer you had will both work on the new Untis but would go with the new Transducer big improvmentsf from gen 2. If you have quesitons you can PM me. If you just fish for cats and already have transducer and power set up look at an Elite FS 9............I think this may be all you need,bout $850 if I recall correctly. I use one on my Active Target and it has been quite impressive for the money.
