I haven’t fished it in years. Started fishing Choke about the 3rd week after it opened. Lived in Corpus back then. Water was gin clear Northeast side of the lake, lots of caliche and gravel. Watching fish swim through cactus with blooms under water was a sight I’ll never forget, lake had really came up fast.

It’s going to take events similar to what filled it the last time, tropical storms, rain in tributaries. One of the storms set right on top of the lake and put serious water in it, I recall 12 inches dumped in the area.

One of these years we will get a similar weather pattern and it will fill back up. Just not sure when.

We fished a lot of tournaments on Choke, Falcon and lake Corpus Christi, lots of fun. Had a deer lease in Catarina too. I gave up my refinery job in Corpus to take a big city job with an industrial tech firm in Houston. Oh well, it turned out good.

Mark my word. Beryl will put a ton of water on SW Texas and the lakes will still be hurting.

I doubt they’d let anyone, but I would think a person could launch off the old roadbed between SS and Huisache. I imagine, I’ll be fishing at Braunig for the next couple years, I’ve always wanted to be a freshwater red fisherman.
