I broke an 11 feet ACC last week on a hook set on a decent fish, broke 2 feet from the handle, not happy about it either. Not the first ACC that has broke either.
Last year my Jenko 10 feet rod broke 3 inches from the tip.
I have some old Wally Marshall rods I have used for many years that have never broke.
The newer rods may be more sensitive and I like them but not as durable IMO.

I would use a net on a 3 lb crappie , no matter what rod I was using.

I have heard of 3lb crappie since I moved to East Texas in 1982, but have yet to see one in person. Maybe some day. Mo

Now it's hard to catch a couple in winter or spring when they're bigger! I noticed the decline pre livescope. I know they're all cyclical so who knows. It's still an awesome lake and the most versatile place I fish!
