Any of you guys throwing small crankbaits or squarebills on anythin other than a glass rod or glass composite rod?

If so, let me know your setup.

One of the few GLoomis rods that I own that’s not a NRX or Conquest is my E6x 845 and 843 cbr’s. 7 or 8 years ago when they came out they were rated the best crankbait rods under $200

I built a MHX CB903 and really like the action and sensitivity of that blank.

I have been throwing mine on a Megabass Destroyer P5 Madbull

A few weeks back I hooked a monster hybrid on Richland Chambers early one morning throwing a squarebills on a point. The rod really impressed me as that fish made some hard dives at the boat. It stayed hooked up.

Don't make this into rocket science. Just get a good medium action rod with a fast tip.

Best small crank rod I've ever used was a Powell 683CB. They stopped making it years ago. That little rod will throw a Bandit 100 a country mile and can roll cast it under cypress trees all day.

So a complete graphite 6'8" 3 power so about a medium light. Almost any good rod for speckled trout wade fishing should be fine.

Dobyns makes some nice ones in their champion line. 684 or 704 depending on your length preference would be good choices.

I use an Ugly Stick Lite for jerk baits, small topwaters, and small square bills. I will
Never buy a more expensive rod for those applications.

That’s exactly what I was trying to do lol, make it simple. I’ve always thrown cb’s on glass or glass composite rods but came across a rod I really like. Before I made the switch, I was curious how many folks had used a graphite medium or medium light.

Appreciate the feedback.

Daiwa Tatula Elite Tak Omori Crankin

TTEL701MHRB-G

This rod has the backbone, bend, etc. that make it perfect for squarebills. I use this every trip I'm out. Caught fish from 1-8 lbs on it, 8 lbs being a catfish, ahahah.

The rod I throw them on you can't get anymore but a 6'6" medium action works great with squarebills, but then you get into the issue from each MFG, What is medium action? The key is having a rod that is flexible enough to stay loaded and a soft enough tip to cast well and still have a little back bone.
