Like a very well known Skeeter dealer told me a few years back, Skeeter may not be the best boat, but they are the best for the money. They used to be priced well under several other well known comparable boats.
Been seeing a lot of decent deals on late model clean used boats the past few months. If you are just looking at value alone- it’s hard to go wrong with a Nitro. I’m sure that’ll get laughed at but just considering dollar for dollar what you get. There's nothing wrong with a Nitro. The layout on the Z19s and above are really nice. I do not dislike Mercury one bit but I do prefer Yamaha so it would he nice to have that option on a Nitro.

I do not dislike Mercury one bit but I do prefer Yamaha so it would he nice to have that option on a Nitro. I've owned a Nitro I bought brand new and the only issue I had with it after owning it 5 years was I kept having to put the trolling motor back on it, I think I did it three times. I'd be out fishing; mostly on Fork, and hit the power button it it would take off without the boat. That wasn't a Nitro problem, but a Motorguide problem. The expansion bushings that the bolts went into to hold the trolling motor on the boat kept coming apart. I've seen people on social media seem to have a lot more issues with theses boats than the rest of the brands but I didn't..... If I bought a boat right now new and based my purchase mainly on fit, feel, and layout and nothing else, I'd be rolling in a Z21 Nitro. Overall I think most every brand; not all, are having issues that can probably be attributed to having to pull people off the streets to build them where the older boats; like the Nitro I had, were built by people that we'd consider craftsmen these days.

Anyone near San Antonio have a Skeeter ZXR or Phoenix 920/721 they would let me ride around in? I’d buy your gas/lunch! Make a road trip out west. I’ll take you out on what little water we have left. Some one out in your neck of the woods is got one coming. He will probably have to change his forum name again though! Triton to Caymas to Phoenix is what I heard. It’s all Sinkeys fault.

I will say this much. I was always a Ranger guy. I was the kid growing up with the satin Ranger Jacket with my name on it. I bled the Flippin Arkansas brand. I owned 6 of them during my fishing life. I had a pro staff deal direct with Ranger and then when the Johnny Morris/BPS deal happened, my supporting dealer no longer carried Rangers. At that point, I weighed my options and settled in on a Phoenix 921 Elite. The main reason was that "I" could chose the colors like Ranger without paying a premium price like other brands were offering. I will say this, that Phoenix was the finest boat I ever owned. I was in a tragic boating accident in 2021 and I had to sell my boat due to the fact that I could no longer operate it with my disabilities. I loved everything about that boat. The ride in rough water was unbelievable, the storage was great, it was fast and handled great. The other thing, their customer service is amazing. They are what Ranger used to be in regards to service.

I’m sure that’ll get laughed at but just considering dollar for dollar what you get. The biggest part of value (for me) when purchasing a new bass boat is the service post purchase. From most people I know that have dealt with BPS the post purchase service is terrible. I knew a guy that worked for BPS and had to sue them to fix a defective boat. I will pass on that whole mess and purchase a boat from a good independent dealer that takes care of their customers. The last 4 boats I have owned have been 2 Tritons and 2 Bass Cats. Having local dealers who were awesome was the best part of owning the brands. Both brands were well built (pre JM Triton) and I never had an issue with service with either dealer I traded with at the time. For the past 14 years I have owned Bass Cats and had a great dealer close to me. I personally have never had a negative experience with my Bass Cat dealer. Shameless plug incoming, Tommy, Ms Silvia, Haydon, Hunter, Bump and all the rest of the crew at Rockwall Marine have been awesome and are the reason I am a repeat customer to the Bass Cat brand. A good dealer makes owning a boat so much more enjoyable.

You can buy all Tracker Marine boats from normal dealers, that’s what I did- and the boat in 4.5 years has never needed any warranty work or service.

In my locale only BPS and Cabelas, but if I wanted a Nitro it would be from an Independent.

This! Dealers almost mean more than the boats. Im blessed out there by Fork to have several of the best dealers anywhere. Tommy @ Rockwall, Fred @ Diamond Sports, Billy @ Sartin, and JD and Shipps.
