A MH/Fast is about as versatile as you can get. You can get away with these rods with almost all techniques, but IMO it’s not optimal.

I personally dont like throwing chatterbaits on the same
Rods I use for jigs or Texas rigs.

I like a fast action for jig fishing and T-rigs, but find I miss a lot of fish with a chatterbait with the stiffer rods.

I love my Falcon Lowrider in MH/ModFast for chatterbaits. My catch to hookup is way better than when I was using fast action rods.

You can get away with the fast action if you are on an aggressive bite with bigger fish, but if you are catching lots of 2-3 lb fish, you will catch more with a softer tip.

I also think it’s pointless to spend $200+ on a rod you will be throwing moving baits with.

For Jigs/T-Rigs there can definitely be an advantage with a higher in rod.

If I were you I’d look for a higher in rod for jigs/T-rigs and then find a decent rod with a mod/fast action for a chatterbait.

I completely agree with you. I just don't have room for 3 rods on my little 10 ft boat. If I bring two rod and the person I fish with bring two rods we are maxed out and have no more room.

No offense, but you should hold a rod and see if it feels good to you. I have a certain weight, and quickness in the rod that I like. Don't buy a ride without holding it, and seeing what it feels like before you buy it. There are many good suggestions, but you might be surprised when you find the rod that is perfect. It's not the arrow, it's the Indian.

Good luck on your hunt for a good rod.

Fun N Sun Boats in Hurst has probably the best selection of higher end rods in DFW. Also, Lake Pro Tackle in Gainesville has a nice selection of rods, but I'd call ahead if you are looking for something specific.

A lot of people seem to really like the 7'2" Shimano Zodias or Expride in the Med-Heavy moderate action glass composite rod for chatterbaits. I remember reading an article in one of the bass mags that Keith Combs uses that model in the Zodias for cranking 5xd's. I would think you should be able to throw all your moving baits: chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, lipless and square bills and med diving crankbaits with one of those rods.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Shimano Poison Adrena 7'3" MH. I've thrown almost every bait you mentioned in your initial post with this rod. Its great. Model PAD173MHA

Hey bud, Make the drive to sulphur springs to dobyns and you won’t be sorry. It really is that simple.

I picked up this exact model today. I went in to purchase another rod, came home with the Adrena. Seems like high quality for sure.
