Has anyone stayed at the Rayburn Marina/Resort cabins? Or have suggestions of other cabins? Is that area good fishing?
I have heard of some thefts at boat ramps lately, is that a concern at Rayburn?
Do I need a Boat Lane Chip?
I have never been to Rayburn or East Texas so any advice is welcome.

Can’t help on the rooms but it would be wise to get a chip. I have never been on it when it is this high though. That’s a big lake and it is over seven feet above normal pool. Dang!

I have not see a bunch of floaters. No need for a boat lane chip, the whole lake is open to run right now. Umphrey's is open not sure about other ramps right now tho.

I would think at 7 feet high you can live without the chip. Most mapping live navinics will show the basics and you should be fine

Thanks to all you. That is very helpful. Any info on the boat ramps? Any issues with theft at Rayburn? We have heard of this at some other lakes.

I have never had an issue but I stick to Humphries, caney, or Cassell boykin mostly with an occasional launch from Jackson Hill. I'm not a regular there. Maybe one of them will chime in.

Umphreys is down by rayburn country which is close to food and gas for the area. For a first time trip thats your best bet. Theft shouldnt be an issue down there but dont take it for granted and just leave stuff out. With the lake up its easy getting around. Head over to five fingers, or veach, or really anywhere up that arm and start flipping or looking for clean spots on points outside the brush line. Flipping will get tons of bites but clean spots will get the big ones. Besides that, if you havent been on a big lake keep an eye on the weather and wind, it can get nasty out there

There are some monster trees out there just under the surface in areas as well as some shallow points.
