Well I've posted photos before of this particular gun back when I got the Form 1 approved. Finally got around to selecting and purchasing a suppressor for it . . . for a newbie on this, the options are just really overwhelming. This one is a Rugged Obsidian 45. Perhaps there are cans out there with much greater db ratings, but the price tags got prohibitive for my pocketbook.

Took about 130 days to get the suppressor approved (it and the SBR are titled in my NFA trust). My first modern suppressor - very cool and very interesting to shoot it. Recoil feels about the same, but huge difference in sound levels. This is intended as my dedicated home defense gun, and I could imagine shooting it inside the house (if necessary!) without hearing protection and being able to keep my hearing afterwards. Caliber is 45acp, and can handle 45 Super. Guess I need to run a few +P hollowpoints through to see what the felt recoil on those is. What's the expression that Obi-Wan Kenobi used? Something about the "first steps into a larger world". While I can't picture putting one of these onto a pistol for my own use, I do have a couple more traditional rifles that might end up wearing one.

Heh, for some odd reason, I'm feeling the urge to hang something else on the foregrip ... a laser or flashlight, or even a flamethrower! yes

Rugged is a solid company/product. My oldest son works with them via the firm he works for.

Do you think that it could sink a wakeboard boat on Lewsiville? How many rounds needed?

Asking for a friend.

My friend said to tell your friend that 50bmg would probably work better.

Nice! I just picked up my first NFA suppressor today as well, and it just so happens to be built by Rugged - the Alaskan 360.

You know what they say... once you shoot it in the can, you'll never go back. Or something like that, anyway.

There is a 20 step program for suppressor addiction...:) I, and many other suppressor owners, have been in it for years. When you have cans for very caliber of weapon you own...well you see where that's going...:)

Can you take that can apart to clean it..?? You probably won't have to clean it that often but you will need to clean it occasionally. I throw mine into an ultra sonic cleaner which does a good job. The worst to clean is the .22 suppressor...one afternoon of shooting and it is filthy...and we all know how dirty 22 ammo is.

The suppressor should not affect your point of impact if your weapon is already zeroed.

Let's say it's a 10 out of 10 to your ears without the suppressor what is it with the suppressor? Of course it's all subjective but might help us suppressor newbs.

Heh, I AM a suppressor newb. I know the laws very well, but the actual mechanics of the things I'm learning as I go. Don't really have a reference point to give yet - will do some outdoor shooting with it and let y'all know.

For what it's worth, 45acp is subsonic in the first place, so the noise reduction at the indoor range was significant to me. But with all the people shooting loud bang bangs in there, i wasn't gonna take my hearmuffs off.

Techfisher, yes, it comes apart pretty easily - the baffles can be removed, unstacked, and reassembled into a shorter configuration. Perhaps that would be useful on a pistol? But as I understand it, you also lose some sound suppression that way.
