Matt at BTL says there are 5 types of scopers out there with maybe some sub categories within each category.

1. Power Scoper
2. Minnow Pingers
3. Structure Scoper
4. Perspective Scoper
5. Smallmouth Scoper

Which type of scoper are you? Do you think there is a different types of scoper out there?

Structure, minnow, power for me. In that order. It’s amazing how many bass will eat a stupid jig headed minnow.

I’m a cover scoper.

Use my maps to find structure and then scope to find cover on said structure and to see if fish are around.

Only occasionally cast at “A” bass.

Now if I could get as good as some of these guys hunting toads, I’d probably do it more often. But I catch way more fish just putting my lure in the cover than I do hunting.

Correct, but this is the Bass fishing forum, not the paddlefish forum. roflmao

I’ve heard Mike Long is working on a new signature rod for his new scoping technique.

Pretty big difference in snagging a large fish that may sit fairly still with large treble hooks and snagging a bass with a lure with small trebles on it.
