We like this lake as it’s lots of timber and fishes a lot like Fork but she was tough tough this year! Weights all year have been horrible. Wind was tough the first couple days Prefishing and we didn’t get to look at a lot of stuff we wanted too or we might have spend one day trying to chase black crappie and see if we could have done better there. Day one we had 5.99 on 5 on our scale and ended up in 8th place with 7.01. That’s about in the middle of what we had Prefishing so we weren’t happy with it but it sure could have been worse. Day two we were shooting for 6.50 on our scale and figured we could jump into the top 5, maybe top 3 with that Day two was windy and we hit our open water stuff first and had some low end tournament fish. We never caught weight fish in the same place twice tourney days or Prefishing. Day two we ended up with 6.05 on our scale and when the top 10 started I felt like we had the guys in the hot seat beat and they were still there when we weighted and we got them. First team over 14 pounds with 14.11 on 10 fish. That guaranteed us 8th place and we knew talking in line the 2 in front of us didn’t catch them day two either so that found us in 6th place and making it to the hardware! Headed to weight in we would have been extremely happy with a top 5 and we stayed in the hot seats until 2 teams remained. We knew Mike and Matt had a sack day 2 and they had us by .6 pounds day one. We ended up in third place bribing another fish trophy home to Texas and picking up some valuable AOY points to extend our lead slightly. Hats off to Dalton and Larry Gorham for another win on Truman lake! They’re great guys and have a knack for finding big hybrids on that lake and they did it again with a 2.68.
