I'm 71. Been active all of my life and still am.
But - Since the Pandemic I have had Covid. Bowel Obstruction brought on by Ozempic that I was taking because of Type 2 diabetes that put me in the hospital for a week. Then had food poison that put me in the hospital for a week. Then had to start taking eye injections because of the diabetes. Then caught Bronchitis. Then caught the Shingles. Just had surgery on my hand to remove some skin cancer and about to have a place on my ear removed. And during all of this my glucose numbers have been high and not under control. So first thing I have done is really started changing my diet over the last few months. Because I am still a working man and leave the house around 4:30am and get home 4:30 pm, have 3 acres to take care of, still fish tournaments on the weekends I have had trouble working in any type of exercise program. Recently I have started seeing a lot of info regarding Chair Exercises. The more I looked into it the more I thought that at my age if I got into a pretty consistent routine of 15 to 20 minutes a day it looked like a low impact form of exercise that I could do at home. Maybe give me more energy to start some walking also. I also noticed how you could add dumbbells to some of the exercises which I like.
I just wondered if anyone was familiar with anyone who has done this type of program and if it really actually helps.
Thanks,

My ortho Dr recently had me start some chair exercises for my knee replacement that started clicking. I do it from my recliner and use ankle weights. Just a couple of weeks and it's helped. He also suggested using rubber exercise bands. There used to be a daily show on PBS that featured chair exercises for older folks, not sure if it's still on.

Anytime I cross paths with a counter top or bench of any kind I will knock out ten pushups.
I will also do ten squats
Sometimes I get in five or six sets in a day and sometimes I don’t get any reps in.

I just try to do it every time I think about it.

I think they help quite a bit honestly and pretty easy to do.

That’s all I got.

Thanks guys.
It's funny how many Facebook posts I get after checking into this and how much they want you to pay for them to come up with a program just for me.
I went on some websites and after all of my research the best set of FREE exercises I found with the use of some dumbbells was from Women's Health. 20 Exercises for Total-Body Strength and Cardio Workout. I am sure there are a lot more out there but I am going to start by doing about 6 to 7 different exercises 3 times a week to start out along with walking 3 times a week and see how this works. I have a feeling that if I can stay just on this routine for the rest of the year it should really be beneficial.
I am hopeful it will help me regulate my blood glucose level a lot better along with blood pressure and even though I don't feel like I need to loose a ton of weight (5'8" 185lbs) I wouldn't mind being in the 170-175 lb range.
Now I just have to allow my hand to heal (skin cancer surgery) and get the ear surgery behind me and am ready to start up mid July. Already have my chair and have been getting used to how each exercise is shown and have my dumbbells and just have to spend the next few weeks just preparing myself for a program hopefully I can stay with and look forward to some healthy benefits.

me and the Misses found some on youtube. We also have a set of pedal things that we use, where you can sit and act like you're pedaling a bike. I think it's used for knee replacement folks.

Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.
