We had such a good time last weekend, that we decided to go back yesterday (6-15). We get there and it's super windy. The canyon walls create a wind tunnel effect. We launched and headed across the river where it looked less windy. We came to a tree that was barely out of the water so we tied off and started fishing. Caught a Crappie then another. That tree was holding lots of crappie.
We fished for 4 hours in the heat of the day, and no shade. The day was hot and so was the bite. The wind came in handy and kept us kinda fresh. Rocko would go swimming every 30 min.
The best part about it was the crappie didn't mind all that. We caught a total of 62 fish 58 were crappie, 3 bass 1 bluegill. All fish were caught on JIGLYF jigs. Size or color didn't matter. We used 1/32 all the the way to 1/4oz.












All fish were released to swim another day. Yes, even the crappie 🙃.

Side Note: Fished the Devils a few years ago. Was able to take a Kayak trail. Enjoyed the river and plan on fishing it again.

We launch out of Rough Canyon. With the water so low we can't go that far, but there's plenty of fish there where we have been fishing.

Love to see all those crappie! Fished mucho years at Big Blue and saw a handful of crappie but always fished for largemouth though did catch a few.

We probably would have kept some too, but we didn't take our crappie ice chest.
