Starting on July 6th. Prefer streams fishing for trout. Thanks in advance for any help.

You aren’t going to get much right now. Most everything is peak runoff for the time being. You’ll be getting there just about time for the fish to start looking up in the Rockies.

Gunnison will still be in runoff - you can hit the edges with stoneflies and streamers, but limited wading. Get up higher... Spring Creek above the reservoir, the Taylor Tailwater, Taylor Canyon might be fishable, definitely if you want to float.

2000 cfs is too high for anything but edges.

If they Taylor tailwater drops to 400 or below, it could be magical. Green drake season.

Highly recommend Spring creek below reservoir for browns/bows, and above the cattle guard above the reservoir for Colorado Cutties.

Another set of options is the East near the hatchery, and if you like backcountry - Cochetopa, Quartz, and the far upper Taylor.

I'm headed to the Conejos during the same timeframe - they just dropped the flows out of PLatoro so the main river is fishable and the creeks will still be really good.
