Got to the lake just b4 sunrise & was the 1st truck in the lot. This seldom happens. Had decided to spend more time today targeting bass...bad plan. In the 1st 2 hours after daylight never got a bite. Not sure if the lake got pounded this past weekend or the weather pattern or what ? Water temp was around 90 in most areas & 102 in the discharge. Guess the dog days of summer are upon us. My wife (who is from Penn.) tells me that Texas is still just Pre-Heating. roflmao In Texas the seasons are...Kinda Winter...Ice Storm...Spring for 3 days...Spring with summer temps...Pre-Heating...Actual summer...Hotter than heck...Fake fall. Hit a few sunfish spots & got 35 with 2 bigs in the mix. At the end of the day I did get a couple decent bass, but none as good as last week. Ran into Zane (jonboat) at one of the sunfish holes & we chatted for a while. Already looking forward to next week...

coolphotos As always. Solid post and fish. Good job Steve. cheers

Side Note: I think Fayette Co. has gotten a lot of rain recently. Maybe all of the fresh rain water has slowed the bite down some. Just my 2cents

The lake looked to slick, I never do well when there's not any wind.

Thanks Chuck & Trapper...
Thrasher...You are correct. It was a pretty calm day & that does seem to be the case...especially in the summertime.

I’m hoping things will pick up on the perch. Things can be so late at that lake sometimes.

Trophy of the day to me is that second image. “Cover shot” !

Thanks Doc...Things have changed a lot on FCL regarding Sunfish since our heydays. Remember our record day...577 sunfish on 8/24/20 (All Released)...Good times ! I miss our trips (And Your Homemade sausage) & wish you would hurry up and get better...cheers

My Grandson wants to go fishing so I made a recon trip to Fayette for the first time since last year. I saw Vogey launching his boat and a couple times on the lake. Fished several old spots I remembered and caught about 40 Sunfish that were released. Hope to be back out there in a week or two when the boy can go.

Nice job Steve and great pictures.
The bite seems to be slowing but still good numbers.
