All,

Heading up to Wyoming for work next week and will be staying in Pinedale. Typically a Texas bass fisherman, but I do love getting the fly rod out when opportunities arise. I will have a full afternoon on Sunday and probably 2-3hrs each day after work to get after it. I have fished the Green north of Warren Bridge before going into the wind river range and did okay. Small browns mainly and too many whiting to count. Looking for any suggestions for areas fairly close to Pinedale and general patterns from some folks that have a lot more experience than me. Obviously I will stop by a fly shop (probably two rivers) and get whatever local knowledge I can pick up, but just wanted to put out a "bat signal" to my fellow TFF brethren to see if there are any extra hints. FYI the green at Warren is 560 cfs as of today so it should be easily wadable unless a strong snow melt happens between now and then.

Flows are coming up and water will be cloudy.
Good fishing report here: https://worldcastanglers.com/green-river-fishing-report-worldcast-anglers/

If you like guns a big machinegun and cannon shoot South of Casper on June 7-9. I usually shoot several guns from the guys at Defensive Arms Academy in Texas. Lots of rentals available to shoot, they supply ammo.

Smaller streams may be your ticket for fishing this time of the year. River may come down some by the time you get there though. Runoffs is really just getting going right now on bigger rivers.

Take your jacket, still chilly some days and evenings.

I was in south wyoming two years ago in late June I believe and there were still 3’ snow banks and the streams were peak runoff. I found one brookie stream that was fishable and they were going nuts, but we had to go to a lot of streams before we got lucky and found one worth fishing. Everything is going to be peak runoff. Good luck but June is a nearly impossible month to fish. Maybe try some lakes.

Small streams out of the mountains will be fine for fishing right now, snowpack was not very good for lower elevations this year.

I can point you to some great small stream fishing around our area, Laramie, they are fishable right now. Our river is coming up and going down so maybe but the Platte is rolling.

Well fishing was limited due to flows and mainly work. Got on the green above warren bridge on Sunday and caught a couple. Streamers as nothing was rising. Flows increased each day and I only really got back out on Thursday evening at green river lake to do some shore casting. Had 1 taker that broke off on a Wooly booger. Thanks for the insights. Now on my way to Jackson to hop on a plane back to dfw.

Glad you caught some !!

Our rivers are coming up to flood stage this weekend. You probably hit the best window for the next couple of weeks or so.
Safe travels.
