Looking to buy a new trailer for my 2006 21' Skeeter iclass bass boat. The fenders are cracking up and from different forums its normal for this year and model and not worth trying to repair. I could try and replace them but they say the trailer itself is junk. Its a EZ loader trailer and mind you this is a 2006. I am a crappie fisherman but I know you bass guys are way harder on your equipment and tend to travel more to fish. Any advice on a good quality trailer and who builds it. Im hoping to not have to travel outside Texas but will if it gets me a good quality trailer.

SSmith usually has some and Im sure they are good enough trailers, but BEST TRAILERS and SKEETER should never be mentioned in the same sentence. I know 2 guys who had to take their brand new trailers back to the factory within the first year because axles were wrong and it was tearing up the tires within months...one guy had to go back to get it correct twice., LOL?

Was not a fan of the EZ Loader trailers on my Skeeters but the 3 Skeeters I've had with the Skeeter built trailers have been excellent. My current trailer is 4 years old with a lot of miles. Still looks and pulls like new. I've replaced one small round LED light which was broken somehow at a boat ramp. None of the 3 gave me any issues.
Prior to that I felt like my Ranger built trailers had been the best I had owned but these have been every bit as good.

Mine does have the 6-lug hubs and much higher towing capacity than needed…. But I like a little overkill. The only issue really has been the Fulton jack. But that’s getting resolved with a new jack. Fulton has really slipped in quality over the years.

They will work like new again. Skeeter is working on adapter plate to retrofit the new jacks they are using now to be able to mount on previous models.

The mount that holds the 6” wheel on the bottom is always coming loose. There are 4 #6 (tiny) machine screws that keep backing out. The threads in the aluminum part of the jack are stripped. I keep buying longer screws to find grip, but it is a repair that isn’t lasting. Not the end of the world, since I don’t roll the boat around once it’s unhitched. Just get tired of hearing the wheel clanking while I drive. Looking at the new ones that Skeeter is using, but they don’t bolt up to the Fulton pattern.

Skeeter is supposedly working on an adapter plate where they will mount up perfectly.

McClane Trailers in Houston, TX sell new boat trailers. They are very knowledgeable and have always helped me keep my trailers rolling. Their new trailers look nice.

I knew you guys would be in the know. I will be calling ssmith and mclane. 3 to 4 hour drive either way. Might be worth checking to see if and much to have them deliver.
