I drive down in my motorhome. Spend the night in Montgomery.

100% if the Wolf brothers show up also. They will challenge you and say things like "city slickers can't handle East Texas".....even if you are originally from there. Then you will proceed to protect this house....then you might need to sleep for approximately ten hours.
I recommend you show up very well hydrated if you ever encounter the East Texas Wolf Pack.

I was going to recommend somewhere on the Mississippi route. Drove the southern route once and never again. Sounds like you have driven through Hattiesburg. Do you know about going through Africa Town when you hit Mobile?

suggest you stay on outskirts of Mobile and go to Dreamland for some really good ribs….

I just went near Montgomery and back over the Memorial weekend. Meridian seemed okay enough to stay for one night. No traffic issues either on I-20
