I've had a Weber kettle grill going on 10years. Paid $99 for it new from HEB.

I want yours to last as long.

The secret? After you're done cooking. You, 'turn' the grill off. Put out the fire with the water hose. Rinse the grill out. What you do not want in the bottom of the grill is white ash. Fat that's dripped down reacts with the white ash. Making lye. That's what causes the grill to rust out.

Tip* Chunk charcoal doesn't turn to dust after being sprayed down. Some of the cheaper briquettes will. The chunk charcoal can be reused for the next meal.

So remember, never let white ash sit in your grill.

I've read that before but since switched to all stainless steel.

You don't need stainless if you take care of it.

Around here people will set a grill by the curb. With all the white ash left in it from the last time they used it. Gigantic holes eaten out the bottom. White powdery ash dropping out. As the junk man picks it up.

I`d rather buy a new grill every 3-4 years than wash out my grill with a water hose after every cookout. Where`s the fun in that?? confused 3

Hey, this grill and I have made friends. It's never let me down. I'm not buying a new grill because I don't wanna walk over to the water hose..

This crazy thing has fed me for years.

I'm not the person to try and sell a pellet grill to. Just saying.

Fire has been started. Propane torch.

Mix of post oak and pecan for smoke.

Once the wood takes off. Officially on fire. No bad smoke from fresh wood gases. Wait till the smokes thins out. Becomes kinda clear.

Chicken thighs, corn, and Dr Pepper beans.

I had a gas grill from K-Mart back in the 80`s. Lasted a few years and tossed it. Never wanted another one until my smoker / grill rusted out after 20 something years. I bought a Weber Genesis in 2013 and have really enjoyed it. Gets up over 500 degrees easily and up to 700 once after I replaced burners a few years ago. I spend way less on propane than I did on charcoal and lighter fluid. The gas grill is much easier and way less mess. I can still use my new smoker to grill with charcoal if I want to, but I`m happy with the Weber.

I have a 14 YO 22" Weber kettle and it has no rust. I do not hose mine out but after shutting top and bottom vent and after putting the fire out I will use the one touch ash clean out to get rid of the ash in the bottom. It sometimes sits for a few days or week before I clean the ash out. Before the next cook I will take an old paint brush to get more of residual ash out. It has the original grates. No isuues at all.
