Caught a few cats, carp and buffalo yesterday. That was not new....but as we were packing up, I reeled the method lead/hair rig with fake corn on it in and about halfway it got a strike from this guy: ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/05/full-109848-225935-9077234143481671905.jpg) He was not foul hooked...the hair rig and "corn" were in his mouth and the size 8 hook was in the corner of his mouth. Craziest part of the trip. NEVER thought of using a hair rig and corn for gar, but it happened at least once. sb

Thanks guys. I actually would love to target this type of gar on purpose!
Awesome! Fishing for Texas Muskie lol.. is hard to beat. The first time I caught a large Longnose Gar, and the way it tail danced on the water, wow.. it actually scared the bajebas out of me. lol.. Research "Longnose Gar rope lure" on youtube and you'll find an exciting and fairly easy way to fish for them. Good luck!
