Hey TFF,

Recently posted a video of my Ranger Alpha 208 on the water, so I wanted to share it here.

All the best.

Not sure what the heck Ranger is thinking with this. Tried building one on their website. No option for 36v battery setup or 4 bank charger. Biggest graphs offered are only 9” and that one on the bow and one on the console. Same for power poles, only sportsmen and no blade option. Time you load it up with that it’s almost $85k. Deep into glass boat prices similarly equipped.

Nice boat James, great video, thanks for sharing... thumb

Thoughts: I know we live in a different world now... and it looks like a nice fishing boat - can't take that away from it... but no matter how hard I look, minus the engine, I don't see a $45k boat here - that's for just the basic boat/trailer package that comes with basic electronics and a standard 70 lb thrust trolling motor... sure the 250 engine is valued around $21k... but that's not a $65k rig !... I'm not saying they won't sell a few of them... but sorry, cost to value is not there... before buying this aluminum boat, I would rather find an older glass boat and invest a few bucks in it, just like you did James with that 97 461V... now that's a Ranger Boat ! and that had cost to value merit.

Johnny Morris is one greedy SOB. When I saw the prices of these things I thought they were nuts. For $85k, you could buy the following glass rigs:
-Skeeter ZXR21
-Phoenix 721 Pro XP
-Ranger Z520R
-Triton 21XP
-Lund Pro V 2075 XS (A very good aluminum boat)

What anglers is this boat marketed toward? Are people still falling for the "I'd rather have a tin rig in shallow stumpy water" nonsense?

The only one of those boats close on price when equally rigged might be the zxr21. The Lund is a great rough water boat but it will only do 60 and the fit and finish is lacking.

Alpha, interesting, is there any Legend DNA added to that boat? Edit: Never mind, I see this is a tin boat

Wrong. I pulled this information directly from the websites of each manufacturer.

Well your computer is broke or you are really bad at this stuff. The Lund is 80k with no options other than the graph and trolling motor equivalent of the Ranger with the cup package- and the Ranger is 69k. 11k difference…. the zxr21 is 79k but you get raptors with it- probably the best value of the bunch.

I’m just jealous James gets a new rig every year and doesn’t have to deal with ranger trailer headaches! Slick looking rig buddy! thumb

Nice boat, the numbers it's putting up are about what my ZX200 puts up with a 200 SHO. I'm running a 25 inch VMax and twisting the crankshaft at about 5800 or slightly less.
I figured this boat would put up mid 70's easily and it may have that in it. He has some factors working against him. If he ran it in summer air and cooler water that would slow him down summer air is heavy and outboards don't like it. Cold or cooler water is dense and also creates drag, of course trying to drive and film didn't help either. FInding that perfect chop will help, he may not have found it on this trip. I may have missed what kind of RPM's he was putting up but if he is running a 23 inch pitch prop that tells me he's pushing more load than most of us unless he is turning nearly 6k or better at the crankshaft and for some reason needs to wind it tighter.. Another factor I saw is the motor only had 71 hours on the clock so it has some time and space to free up and give more at the prop.
I would assume Johnny Morris and company introduced this boat as an entry level tournament boat.
I like the lay out and would like to go for a rest ride just to see how ergonomic it is up against my Skeeter.
