I want to take my son catfishing at Lake Granbury. Does anyone know any decent spots where we might catch a few catfish? I have a flat bottom boat

Up north. It could be tough right now though. Find the timber and pocket hop. But the biggest thing is BE CAREFUL if you're out there in a Jon boat. If you're not in an area riddled with timber, you will be in an area riddled with idiots in wake boats. Especially this coming weekend.

Fresh Shad is always a plus. Punch bait should be working right now as well.

Ok, here are a few secret spots, so don’t tell anybody. grin Use the ramp east of the square between Business 377 and the railroad track. Go out and under the Hwy bridge and you will see some big trees sticking out of the water. Tree hop the different groups of trees. You can use punch bait or cut bait. But, I would also use earthworms. Granbury has lots of drum, carp, and buffalo, so you can get a big surprise using earthworms. Minnows would also provide a chance for multiple species. You can get minnows at the Marksman or Tri Lakes Tackle. If you don’t catch there go over to the super secret honey hole. Head for the dock in front of the Mesquite Pit Restaurant. Fish just west of the dock in front of the restaurant. If you can’t catch something there they aren’t biting. Also, keep an eye out for white bass or stripers hitting the surface. Good luck and let us know how you do.
