Dear friends,
I wanted to provide you all with an update on the status of Belton Anglers Stocking Hybrid (BASH).
Since BASH's formation, TPWD has fully stocked Lake Belton via its own internal efforts each spring.
This spring, Lake Belton received approximately 824,800 palmetto-strain fry, which reflected the reservoir's reduced volume at that time.
Due to TPWD's success, we have not had to expend any funds to privately purchase fry in order to keep Lake Belton fully stocked.
Now that the "window" for stocking has passed for 2024, I headed over to Cadence Bank in Killeen where our BASH funds are kept on deposit, and transferred $8,000.00 of the $8,674.22 in the account into a 5-month certificate of deposit (CD) which will earn 5.00% (APY) instead of just sitting idle (and actually losing purchasing power due to inflation).
Once the CD matures, the funds will be deposited back into the BASH account and will be available during the March-April 2025 timeframe when fry would be purchased, if needed. I will continue this process so as to be a good steward of the funds you have donated.
Remember, we are only permitted to stock if the state is unable to do so.
We continue to enjoy a good relationship with, and the support of, the Waco TWPD fisheries staff, now led by Michael Baird.
Thank you for your support!!
P.S. -- If you'd like free 2" x 6" BASH decals* to display proudly, just send a self-addressed, stamped envelope folded up inside an envelope and send to me at:
