At least in a bass boat you have some protection from the morons. Try fishing out there in a kayak. I've had enough puckering close calls that I'd be happy if the government limited you all to idle speeds while on the water.  I bet you make a lot of friends here with that one ........Dale

there needs to be some harsh penalties handed out that will start to get boaters attention
right now there is no reason for them to care cause what can be done insurance pays a claims and they are back out boating
start to hand out jail time and see what happens. most especially when someone gets hurt.
I dont know every situation behind every wreck but it always seems like if they would have just slowed down to a reasonable speed for the situation.
and had there head up looking forward that most wreck would have been avoided.
What makes it so special that harsh penalties need to be passed out yet in a car accident all they get is a ticket Because some bass boat owners are some of the most entitled SOB’s on the planet.

Many of those kayaks blend in with the water due to their low stance. No way I’d be in a major boating area with a kayak.

It’s not just bass boats, it’s also inexperienced drivers. Wreck down at Choke last summer from a boat running up on another boat, one was chopped up by the propeller. It was the guilty parties first time out, they said they’d never own a boat again. “Growing the sport” has consequences. The problem with this accident in regards to your statement is that this was not a beginner. The person who ran over the kids was pre-fishing for the ABA "Pro" tournament.. Correct, The only "beginner" in this accident was the 16 year old HS kid out graphing and doing his homework for the upcoming State Championship. I saw the guy driving made a statement and that thread is deleted.

I saw the post made on the other thread. I think the thing that matters is that it can happen, and if we dont talk about it and realize it can happen we dont learn anything from it. This post I made wasnt to sniff out the name of the person who was driving the other boat. I already knew that name. I am sure just like his post said that there are 1000 things he wished he had done different that day. I dont think this makes this person a bad guy. I think in the end we all can learn from what happened and if we do that we are all going to be better off.
