What's the best baitcasting reel you've used that can effortlessly cast a 3/16 oz or 1/8 oz lure a long distance? I'm not talking about BFS reels. I'm curious because, in my opinion, the old 50E's were some of the best.

The higher end narrow spooled Lews reels spooled with 8-12 lb line work for me. I am sure the Shimano's, Daiwa's, Abu's would do the same. However, the rod may be even more important here. Ya gotta have the right tip action and bend to really get that good whipping action that produces a good long cast.
Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

They don’t compare to the Aldebaran when it comes to finesse. The rod I’m using with it is a Conquest 782c MBR. The lure rating is 1/4-5/8 oz but the tip is soft enough to throw well below that.

I wish bfs reels could hold more line It would defeat the purpose. More line capacity will increase total spool weight and inhibit ability to cast lighter lures.

Bigger diameter of the line on spool and the line releases faster.
That's why it's rare to cast the entire amount of the spool. 3/4's is pure backing for diameter.

Some folks will switch the spool on a 1000 size spinning for a 2500 spool.
More diameter for the light stuff. Easier to cast and more distance.
