Backstory. Family is growing again, and the realization has come I do not have the time to mess with this, and the room is just not there either. Time for a 4 door something.
It's a 97 Tahoe LT 2 Door with a transmission issue. It's slipping/intermittent 3/4th. It's fine in town for my little 2 mile commute as I never shift out of 2nd and get to 40 anyhow. But, I'm tracking it down to either shift solenoid or worst case, clutch pack 3/4...which then just rebuild the thing since you're in there.
I'm seeking advice on how to handle this monetarily now that I've made the decision its of no use to my family. If I don't have the time, I don't want to spend any more on it if at all possible.
These 2 doors are sought after now which is adding another layer in my mind, and the type of person buying this will probably have some mechanical inclination and be more inclined to not spook away immediately.
Should I just list it, my loss your gain, and give a grand or 2 discount, covering most of the cost of a new trans from Summit, or if you fix it cheaper, you got a better deal on top; or should I just send it to a shop, spending the money for whatever it may be and list it for full price?
Thanks for any insight, especially Spags if he sees this and can chime in from that side of the coin as well.

If you're gonna private sell it, list the problems and note as is... If you're trading with a dealer let them know the issues and see what they'll give you on trade... Dan

Thanks Dan. Yeah, the online valuators on the dealer sites are still just saying this is just a cash flor clunkers/or too old to even consider. Haven't made it to one in person. It's BAT, and Cars and Bids that has me pondering how to handle this.
Brian, thanks. I'll round some up tonight hopefully and shoot you a text.

I would also pm the info to rj74955.
If it’s a pre-2000 Tahoe with transmission issues that you’re wanting to value I feel confident that RJ could provide assistance. He’s Oklahoma based but he knows Texas stuff too.
Good luck!

I'm not wild about personal sales but if you do, buyer beware, and make sure its a close personal friend or family member.

The notorious 4L60E. You can have one delivered to your door. I changed one out on a 94 Camaro Z28. Same no third gear. Taking it apart, it's all kinds of junk. Some internal parts like to crack. It more a matter of beefing up the prone to failure factory parts. I bought the rebuilt transmission from these guys. Never had an issue up to selling the car. And I wasn't easy on it. https://www.monstertransmission.com...ion-Fluid-and-Free-Shipping_p_18579.html

Grasshopper, yes....ye ole 4L60E. I've gone down youtube and google rabbit holes and man, notorious is well said.
This would be the largest of my attempts at vehicle work (foot in mouth statement...I mean its just unplugging a few things, and unbolting a lot of bolts kind of thing). I feel like I could watch enough youtube videos and read up that I may be gird em up and do it, but again, it goes back to time. This all points to over my head at the moment.

Third gear burnt up, common problem. There is a really good fix for this and no more problems, $2800.00 installed, If interested call me in Waxahachie, 972-938-8161

Put a price on it and sell it. If I was selling it, I would price it at book value less a tranny...

It'll need the rear main seal. That's granted.
Bushings on every A-arm up front. Motor mounts.
If no play in the driveshaft u joints. No eating through rust on the frame. Intact windshield.
Someone is gonna have to love this thing.
It's a money pit.
