I would have told him to pay attention and sent him right on in.... maybe a little overzealous with this one.

There is always more than one side of a story. He thinks he was following directions and the cop didn’t. Most likely, a misunderstanding.

Supposedly others had driven the exact same path and the same officers, dressed in the same attire were active security for the tournament, not hard ot see why Scheffler could have gotten confused. Sounds like he followed the path that others were taken, but ran into the officer that was at war with the citizens.

Unless the officer has an air tight and 100% open and shut case, he will likely wish he was off today. A huge part of being a cop or anyone with authority to strip citizens of their rights is decision making and correctly accessing situations on the fly. The membership at that club likely contains some of the more "powerful" people in that city and the way things work behind the scenes could be a little bumpy.

He will likely miss his tee time and that will be an auto DQ. If that happens and the officer is not 100% in the right, the civil repercussions could be more than he will make in a career.


It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I would hate to be having straighten this train wreck out.
