Tall enough to stand up in the boat when it’s in there.

….and a bed, so you don’t have to sleep on the couch for spending more attention designing your boat storage than you do a nice kitchen and her closet.

Just get Avid_Basser to show you his “barn”. It matches his house…and his house looks like Cabelas. His building has room for four or five boats, has an upstairs, giant doors, enough parking for a party.

Half of the storage area is nice to have shelves.
- Putting stuff in clear tote containers saves tons of time looking inside cabinets.
- Build the cabinets large enough to hold a tote.
- If you are a tournament fisherman put a 2 inch border around the top of the walls to hang you plackets and trophies. It saves shelf space.
- Do the whole area in pegboard and install cabnets/shelves on top. Use the thick pegboard. Hanging heavy stuff like tools is a must.
- Build a nice work bench area with a vice.
- Built in desk area is a must with a comfortable chair to work on stuff.
- Good climate control is a must to work out there when it is over 100 degrees. Insulation, Insulation, Insulation.

Pull through is not an option unfortunately. I am unfortunately moving from my acreage house into the country club as the wife wants to be around more people since she retired a little early. I am going to have a single 18 foot wide door that is 12 feet tall. The dimensions are 33 feet deep by 23 feet wide. This should hold my Ranger and big enough for a 22 foot flats boat for the coast if I buy one. My other boat I have now is an 18 foot SeaArk with a jet outboard that I use in the lower Colorado. I'd sell that one if I end up buying the flats boat. My ceiling is just too high for outlets. I will probably just use some retractable extension cords mounted on the wall. I am using plywood (painted) for the walls over sheet rock so I can hang stuff and easier to install cabinets/shelves. I thought about the drains since we have them in our Colorado home but I did not do it. Slab and framing are done so we are past that. I have thought about a big ceiling fan to help dry the boats out. Bathroom is close since I can't pee outside in the country club (damnit!). Epoxy floors will go in the garage and a large mini split for AC and heat. I don't think it will cool or heat it perfect but I think it will be enough since I will have spray foam insulation.

I used smart board on my walls, and it turned out better than plain plywood. You will love the epoxy floor. My builder talked me out of drains in the floor, said it would cause the concrete to crack worse. I wished I had them. If time permits, I usually leaving the boat out for an hour or so before putting it up. That generally lets it dry enough that it doesn't drop much water in the floor.

A buddy has a tall ceiling, maybe 14’, he put an outlet in and used this retractable extension cord spool, it has a tag in that plugs in up high, the extension cord retracts kind of like a air hose spool, it’s handy, but not a huge deal, just make sure you put in plenty of outlets.

I'll have plenty of outlets. I am even going to put in a 220 outlet also as I thought I might teach myself how to weld.

I'd do a couple of wall mount fans.

Ample floor drains, outlets, overhead door openers, industrial ceiling fans and a head.
