Jordan Lee's take on Facebook.....

Jordan Lee
I do not agree with this rule. A simple fishing license should not cost you a career. We have all forgot to buy one. Keep your head up man. And the integrity you have to turn your self in should be worth its weight in gold. My respect ✅

Got to agree with the DQ. Dumb x 10. These aren't children, or weekend fishermen, but supposedly professionals that should know what is required.

No different than forgetting to put gas in the boat, or life jacket, or kill switch.

Not only did he break a BASS rule, he broke the law. Jordan is wrong this time.

I've fished all over the country, both for fun and for money. Always got my license.

I think he is referring to the group of states that reciprocate liscense suspension. There are a bunch of states that won't let you have a license if you got in trouble in another state. Therefore he wouldn't be able to fish other tournaments in other states

Should be a non-issue.

Just buy your license.

Did he get in trouble with state? Citation? He should have.

I kinda, sorta, feels sorry for him, but it's big boy time. You mess up, you pay the price.

It's silly, when you can literally purchase one on your phone in about 5 minutes!

agree with jordan lee.......too many people especially on club level want to turn it into a rules obeying contest....main goal should be to see who caught biggest bag without cheating....and by cheating i mean something like taking fish out of basket or having somebody hole sit for you....we got to have rules but they should be to equalize competition .....having or not having fishing license does not give one an advantage....let game wardens handle....those fishermen have got thousand things on their mind that they have to take care of when they are traveling and fishing...it's real easy to forget something....
just my opinion....

Easy to be a sidline judge when your not involved. Some of these guts fish in 10 to 12 different states. Ad in keeping everything else in order isn't as easy as it sounds. Should he of had a lake by lake checklist ? Sure. But even with that he could have missed it. I think it's classy that Jordan defended him. And Sands showed class by turning himself in. Why tell him to pull his big boy pants up. He wasn't crying or complaining. Keyboard God's are so perfect when they don't walk in others shoes.

It's ultimately each angelr's responsibility, but perhaps BASS should require each contestant to show proof of a valid license during pre tourney meeting.

BASS only DQ’d his day 1 weight. It’s the state laws that may ruin this guys career if he ends up guilty. Assuming this state is part of that reciprocating group. He won’t be able to buy a license in Texas if so.

That would be the easy and obvious thing. Check for their license and required insurance pre tournament. That would be a help to the anglers and you wouldn't have anymore of this stuff. Almost too easy of a solution. I entered one the other day where I had to send a copy of insurance with entry

Hate to see it, but it’s a stupid mistake. Agreed that anglers have a lot on their minds. This could be managed in the off season as soon as the schedule is announced, but a license for when you’ll be there, done. (I know some states have weird years i.e March 1-Feb28 or whatever) just take care of it in the off season, done. Good thing he didn’t WIN and then get it stripped for something dumb like that.
