2008 Procraft super pro I bought new, original 200hp optimax. Always stored indoors. I just updated with Lowrance ghost, Active target, 12 inch lowrance and 2- 9 inch lowrance. I fish out of it regularly and still love the boat. Paying $1200 @ year to state farm, never had a claim. Wondering if I should drop insurance. Hard to get a clear value on a 15 year old boat with new electronics? I feel like I have paid thousands upon thousands on insurance for boats, cars, home, etc etc and rarely had a claim. JW if I should eliminate this bill and self insure? I hear a frequent claim is lower unit. But I could have bought multiple lower units for all I have paid on insurance for this boat...

Shop around and get some quotes.....$1200 seems high without knowing details of the policy.

Maybe drop coverage down to liability only. You want some level of protection when little Johnny wrecks Daddy’s jet ski into your boat.

Progressive 2021 basscat p2 I believe it has agreed upon value of 50k but I will have to double check. 500k liability because my umbrella requires that much. Last year was 580. Haven't got new quote yet.

Foremost (Farmers) 2017 Phoenix 920 Pro agreed upon value of $52k. Also have $20k for accessories and tackle. Just got my renewal and didn't get an increase which is surprising since auto and home rates went up so much. $691 with $500 deductible.

I self insure when I can afford to replace out of my pocket or do without it, That goes for anything I own.

Check progressive. If you have house and auto with them. I would shop that too.

I was self insuring my boat (2000 Nitro) up until last month. I had to get insurance in order to be able to captain at the HS tournaments. I went with Breakwater Insurance www.bwinow.com because they are a sister company to mine. I don't get a discount, and it was around $225ish a year. I would shop around if you still want coverage.

That’s about the same I pay on a $120,000 new bass boat with $300,000 liability through Allstate. I think you should be considerably less
