Throwing big flys does require getting use to! The timing changes for the cast, mostly you have to slow down and wait for the fly to make it's way all the way back and you need to keep the fly higher up on the backcast. If you don't have a heavy rod you can still cast these bass bugs but just not as far. I sent some smaller bugs just for this reason, try one of those to get the hang of casting a fly with more wind resistance.

Whitebass didn't like them either, but I did manage a couple black bass and a whitebass on a clouser Monday evening at Lake Somerville. Spinning gear was a whole lot easier and more productive on the whitebass, especially fishing out of my kayak. smile

Thursday evening landed about eight chunky bass on hairbugs and big fat streamers in about an hour before dark. I think the deck is stacked in my favor for these are the best stock tanks I've ever fished.. The bass will hit just about everything I throw at them so I can't really tell if it's the flys or the bass are just so hungry wink
