just west of Temple on Hwy 36. It was reported to weigh 350,000 lbs and rolled of of truck onto a car killing 2 and critically wounding another. Highway has been closed since yesterday at noon.

Not sure what that could have been???
Most loads max out at 45,000

I read that on the news.


Temple doesn't play.


I'm not saying any other place is worse but of all places, Not Temple, Texas.

Looked like some type of long, large diameter tower going to a chemical plant. Sad deal and will be a huge mess with the trucking company and insurance.

Wow! I've seen something like that being hauled not too long ago when I was traveling to a funeral in Waco. Dang thing was huge! Prayers for the families of those that perished and for the one survivor.

Oversized loads are common. Most require escort cars in front and back. Some have 3. Lots of variables come into play. Did the trailer break down from the weight ? Did the chains come loose if they were using chains. Straps were probably not used due to the weight. Loads that size normally have a specialized trailer or platform made by the manufacturer. The load could have shifted in a turn. 35 splits in Temple going S, their is a pretty sharp curve at that split . I feel bad for all involved. Lots of lives were affected by this.

Not just any hauler can accommodate this job.. They have plenty of insurance.

Sad deal for the family of the people killed but also the others who will feel guilty.

Looks like they only had 2 pieces of shipping steel under it, when they made a turn it flexed enough in the middle that it moved the back shipping steel off the trailer. Just a guess, but that’s the longest vessel I’ve ever seen shipped via road. We ship stuff like that all the time but max out around 60’ sections, that looks to be way over 100’ long.

Living here in the Pineywoods, I get a little anxious when I have to pass any of these big log trucks. None of them look too secure or well maintained. Getting beside one or meeting one head on is never fun.
