Does anyone have a good home made recipe for carp that I can catch them on ??? I want to put out a couple of BIG spinning rods while I am catfishing from the bank at Tawakoni. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

I will typically fill a gallon ziplock bag with oatmeal and 1 can of cream style corn, mix it together then ball it up and throw it out as my chum. Then use whole kernel corn on my hook as bait.

As far as home made baits, some others will chime in with better baits prolly. However in the past I have had luck with wheaties mixed with big red and a little cherry jello. Mix it together until you have enough consistency to stay on your hook.

Just make a quick trip to the feed store and do this. Chum with the range cubes when you get there and it will increase your catch of catfish also.

It's hard to beat Wheaties and Big Red soda. You can add some cottonseed meal and cinnamon. Can be made right on the bank.

Literally plain whole kernel corn…a few cans.

Throw a handful out for chum here and there.

It’s simple and you won’t waste your time and money on something that turtles are going to eat 95% of.

You cannot beat the cost simplicity and effectiveness of corn.

Man, I am still a relative newbie to this, but I have been lucky with these:

Original
Panko - 1 pkg
Lg Strawberry jello - 1 pkg
canned corn - 1 can with liquid
vanilla extra (sometimes)

Recent Experiment
Sweet feed - about a quart
can of corn or hominy - 1 can with liquid
oatmeal to increase packability - varies, just got to play with it to get the consistency you want

Used both on last two trips and caught equally -- only caught Buffs on the sweet feed mixture, not one on the Panko original. Caught carp, and cats on both.

I am using home made method feeders using wall anchors as well as Euro stuff I got off Amazon:

good luck

Few from today. Buffs were all on sweet feed.

Also, if you wanna catch fish, do whatever Osbornfishing says. He has caught more fish than most ever will.

Plain bread crumbs, sweet corn, and jello has caught me hundreds of common carps, grass carps and buffalos.
Sometimes I swap out the bread crumbs for plain oatmeal if I want to make a 3 gallon bucket of bait.

If I'm fishing a small creek, pond or bayou I'll just use white bread balled on a hook or just some corn on a hook.
For bigger rivers and lakes I use the pack baits.

When it comes to homemade carp bait, there are several effective recipes you can try out. Making your own bait can be both cost-effective and rewarding. Here are some popular homemade carp bait recipes:

Homemade Boilies
Boilies are a common and versatile carp bait. You can create them in various flavors, colors, and textures.

Ingredients (Fishing Store Version):
Base mix powder (3 cups)
Base activator (2.5 ml)
Strawberry flavor (7.5 ml or any other flavor)
1 egg
Food coloring (1 tsp, any color)
Sweetener (1 ml, optional)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Mix all liquid ingredients (base activator, egg, coloring, sweetener, and flavor) in a bowl.
Add base mix powder and knead into a dough.
Form dough balls and cook them briefly (about 2 minutes).
Let the cooked dough dry overnight.
Alternatively, you can make boilies using ingredients from a supermarket.
Homemade Fishing Dough:
Fishing dough is similar to boilies but easier to make.
Ingredients:
Cornmeal (1 cup)
Flour (1 cup)
Strawberry jelly (half of a standard pack)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Mix flour, cornmeal, and strawberry jelly.
Slowly add water and knead the dough until you achieve the desired consistency.
Let the mixture sit for an hour, and it’s ready to use.
Homemade Sweet Corn:
Carp love the sweet taste and small size of sweet corn.
Ingredients:
Fresh sweet corn (canned or frozen)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Use fresh sweet corn or canned/frozen corn.
Hook a few kernels onto your fishing rig.
Cast and wait for the carp to bite.

Bread:
Simple white bread can be an effective carp bait.

Step-by-Step Guide:
Tear off a small piece of white bread.
Mold it onto your hook.
Cast and see if the carp are interested.

Cornbread Mix Carp Bait:
Cornbread mixed with other ingredients can create an enticing bait.

Ingredients:
Cornbread mix (store-bought or homemade)
Additional flavorings (e.g., vanilla extract, spices)

Step-by-Step Guide:
Prepare cornbread mix according to the package instructions.
Add any desired flavorings.
Mold the mixture into balls or shapes and use as bait.

Chicken Liver Recipe:
Chicken liver is a natural bait that carp find irresistible.
Ingredients:
Fresh chicken liver
Step-by-Step Guide:
Hook a piece of chicken liver onto your rig.
Cast and wait for carp to bite.

Remember to experiment with different baits and find what works best for your local carp population. Tight lines!
