$Bill and I set up a guided trip at Fayette to chase the big guys. Good thing is we caught a nice mess of fish, bad news was the wind was howling 15 to 25 mph. We came down Sunday afternoon, set up the RV, then put the boat on the water and started looking for the bluegill areas. Only stayed on the east side of lake as the wind was already picking up and it was getting late in the day. We did manage to find a small spot but couldn't get any hits. Went to another area and caught a few small sunfish and one 4lb 12oz bass. We seen a lot of fish on the livescope but they were not hungry for the bait we were using. I wish I had a few worms. I read Jamies post earlier and he's right, the spawning action is getting close.
We booked the Monday trip with Rick Denton guide service. He actually grew up in a house that was demolished under eminent domain when they flooded the lake. The two areas we fished were on ridges that had a house on them and he use to ride his dirt bike around the area we now call Fayette lake. One spot had a buoy and the other was in the middle of nowhere. We fished from 6:30 to 2 and caught 35 fish.

Thanks Osborn, Banker
Steve - I didn't notice the temp on his graft. We did have a good time. It felt like I was still rocking back and forth hours later after getting off the water.
The guy is very knowledgeable of the lake.

Great story. I've heard people around Somerville talk about being there before they flooded the lake. Now that's local knowledge grin

I've been catching a ton of those green carp too grin As well as crappie and catfish. Lots of species spawning at the same time.

coolphotos Good times and good memories! Never fished Fayette but have wanted to. Thanks for sharing and will keep Rick Denton Guide Service in mind for when I finally decide to visit there!
