I had a memory from high school summer jobs. Mom would pack my lunch sometimes she would put a can of tuna, a can opener, a bag of chips, a candy bar, a frozen can of coke wrapped in some newspaper covered with aluminum foil and it would be thawed and stilled cold by lunch. (our yeti in the 60's). Did your mom do the same for you? I forgot to mention she also packed bread for a tuna sandwich.

Nope. She gave me lunch money. There was no place to buy lunch you had to bring it with you.

My Mom made lunch for the three of us every morning. Homemade bread thick cut bologna slice of onion lettuce tomato mustard, or leftover meatloaf, or liverwurst onion and mustard. Carrots or celery sticks and some graham crackers. I would give anything for a slice of her bread again.

Mom would pack me a bacon sandwich with some chips except on fridays when they had the square pizza slices that were the bomb. I used to go eat with my kids when they were in elementary on a friday and did they sure screw that pizza up. Thanks michelle obummer.

We got a wish sammich, two slices of bread and mayonnaise. You just wished there was meat in the middle. Oh, I almost forgot the cracker!

Yes, for first and second grade (1981, 1982, and part of 1983) mom did something similar, except my sandwich was bologna and grape jelly (I had weird tastebuds, I guess)...From third grade on mom gave us lunch money.

Mom made me either a Spam sandwich or an Underwoods Chicken Spread sandwich and a small bag of chips with a Coke wrapped in foil, all in a brown paper bag. I still love both sandwiches.

We got SPAM salad sandwiches a whole lot. I didn't know that ham salad was made any other way for years. I did get money to get a small box of milk most days. Other days it was go to the water fountain for something to drink. That said, our boys preferred to pack their own lunch as they said the school lunches sucked. They both take their lunch to work now most days.
