I hate braid so I tend to stay away from techniques that require it.

I’m looking for a rod to pull double duty on two techniques I don’t use often. Frogs and ripping lipless out of hydrilla. Reel will be a Daiwa Morethan with 50lb braid. Pick my rod for me!

I was thinking a Destroyer FMJ or Orochi X10 Swamp Survivor. Thoughts?

The Swamp Survivor will be more versatile has it has a wider lure rating. I have not thrown a lipless on mine yet but the way it loads up etc I imagine it would handle it just fine. I've been pretty impressed with the X10s so far. So far I love it as a frog rod and I think it would be a better choice if you are gonna use a lipless too.

The FMJ P5 is one of my all time favorite rods but it's more a conventional Texas rig rod and jig rod but I love it for conventional sized frogs.

Thank you. I enjoy pretty high end gear. Is the X10 on par with something like a P5 in your opinion?

It's gonna be close. I have a lot more time on the P5s and have a bunch so it's easier to talk about them. I like to really put a model through it's paces for a good bit before I form a final.opinion on it but so far the X10s have been excellent. You probably know that a lot of JDM actions are different and they are often extremely versatile since boat ownership is more limited there. They carry less gear.

Just my thoughts, but these are pretty different techniques and the qualities that make a rod good for one kind of negate being a good fit for the other.

But I imagine you work hard and deserve a rod for each. Treat yourself!

It's a hallmark feature of a lot of JDM rods in regards to such a wide range of uses. Boat ownership is limited in Japan and many anglers fish from shore and travel to and from via small car, train or public transportation so having equipment that can be used for many things is vital.

I use more of our US models but I can probably do all of my fishing with just 3-4 models and not miss a beat. I love technique specific rods as much as anyone but I could get by with less if I had to.

That being said using the X10s he's not gonna be giving up anything regarding either technique. They are made to be so versatile and do a lot of things very well.

I’ve noticed this with the Valkyrie series. Super versatile

If Mark were to explain what he does for Megabass, it would be 90 pages long. Some guys just like to poke fun.

I will keep it simple. I've been with Megabass for 12 years. I started out as a grass roots staffer. Over the years I've taken on some other roles. I've always felt lucky as if I've been in the right place at the right time and things have just worked out to where I'm at currently. These days most of what I do is regional sales. I do some other things as well here and there.
That's it in a nutshell.

Seems like Air America style work, not the movie, the real Air America.

I am not sure why some people want to make fun of some of the people on here. Most won’t brag about what they do if they are the real thing. Mark is one of those guys. If we had a few more like him we would be better off.
