lol, I am referring to when you store it in the boat. Does the on screen pointer work correctly? Everything works fine on the Garmin unit just fine!! Except when I use the Live Scope there should be a little directional cone icon on the screen to indicate the direction of where the Transducer is shooting & before I can produce it the units compass must be calibrated If that`s what you mean by the on screen pointer working correctly then NO it`s not! I`ve had the boat out many times & caught fish I just never elected to calibrate the compass. So when I pick a day, & finally decide to do just that, it was a failure. RATS!!! I think I was just in a hurry but i`ll figure it out

For the directional cone to work properly, you will need Garmin steadycast module and NEMA. Another couple hundred dollars.

Per Garmin, beam icon on Livescope screen will NOT track livescope transducer direction without adding some sort of heading sensor (such as a SteadyCast or 24xd). Both of these will require the addition of a NEMA network.

Has nothing to do with what Im trying to achive.I`m trying to make the boat Icon appear on the screen & i`ve seen to many videos to where it wasn`t necessary! Heck one guy calibrated his Compass inside his home studio !

It's amazing how when you try to help someone, they just call BS.
For the "Beam Icon" to appear on the screen, the compass must be calibrated. Once the compass is calibrated, the "Beam Icon" will appear on the screen.
The "Beam Icon" will NOT track movement of the Livescope transducer without the addition of some sort of heading sensor, as I stated earlier.
All of the above information is from my experience setting up over 200 Garmin units with Livescope (both LVS32 and LVS34 units) and dealing with Garmin technical support when there were issues.
If you still continue to believe it's BS and want to believe YouTubers, good luck with your endeavor and if you still believe what I posted is BS, just give Garmin technical support a call.
Tight lines, Lynn

Tight lines, Lynn Calm down capt! Don`t be so sensitive . I am NOT trying to track anything! I understand that the beam Icon will happen after the compass is Calibrated. That`s knowledge that hasn`t escaped my comprehension I`m simply trying to Calibrate the compass and I don`t need a heading sensor to do it.

Yep the icon is useless without installing steadycast.
