Last time I went out I cranked up and started out only to find I was still in reverse while in forward gear. Switched it back and fourth a few times and finally went forward. I had reversed before killing the engine while in gear originally to get corrected for drifting. Is this a linkage adjustment issue or is there a gear issue I need to be worried about.

It's a linkage adjustment. 1st. disconnect the shift linkage and find true neutral ( with the control box in neutral ) on the engine. Adjust the link arm on the cable so that it matches with the connector ball. 2nd, Remove the throttle cable. Make sure that the engine is in the idle position. Screw the spring loaded connector in until you can just reach the connector ball. Note. If your cables are sticky or hard to move, you will need to replace the cables..........

Youre a great guy Mike, I'm thinking of trying that, doesn't sound too hard but I'd hate to get into it and ness it up. Any one have an idea on how much it would cost to have this done?
Michael is just right up the road, I've always thought I'd use him one day if needed and give him the business since he's has been so good helping out on the forum. I'm going to think about it. The boat is pretty much prestine condition, that is untill I start working on it. It has only about 50 hours on it so I'm pretty sure its and adjustment.

The cost wouldn't be that much. But go ahead and give it a try, after all you can't mess anything up that a mechanic can't fix. Or look at it this way, it's broke now, what harm could you do.
