I have been hearing about this Bait Pop gel that you put on your lure to see your bait better on sonar images. Gimmick or real? Anyone ever used this?

Like anything else fishing related, it's marketed to catch fishermen more than fish.

the only pop you are going to get is by adjusting your sonar returns. dont believe the snake oil salesmen. they are preying on the folks chasing the fad. the harder or larger the bait, the better the sonar return will be. on garmin you can adjust color gain, gain, and even color limit to see the returns "brighter". Just never update your garmin. I did it again, with a new to me unit, and it has screwed it up.

I like it for small crappie jigs, but not necessary for larger baits, if your unit is set up correctly

I've not noticed any real difference in performance. Scent and glitter doesn't hurt.

Scott Martin says it works. He's a pretty honest dude IMO.

One of the better "gimmicky" products out there. thumb
