Maps, but they had to start their ride around the day before competition with all of their waypoints cleared off their graphs.

I think it’s a cool format, and it seems to have gone well. They paid out the top 12 and only 47 competed. I believe $65K for first…not bad.

Heard they put some sort of lockbox on their scoping transducer cable so they didn’t have to take the whole thing off - that sounds smart. Emil Wagner talked about it on BTL

I hope they are able to fill out a full 200 boat field and dull out 300k to a champ, that would be sweet.

Seems to me that it is more proof that there is just a very small percentage of anglers that want to participate in these high entry fee tournaments. The list of organizations that have tried them and failed grows every year.

Well it is called the TAA for a reason. It’s for heavy hitting touring anglers and deep pocketed locals, and some that really like to risk it for the biscuit. Pretty good payouts really. Top 20% at least doubled their money.

No disagreement here. But it takes a certain threshold of participation. Lots of anglers say they have interest in these things, but when it comes down to actually putting the money on the table the number of actual entries ends up being very low. The list of organizations that have been able to make these high entry fee trails (both team and individual) sustainable is very very short. I think it's a safe bet to assume that 47 entries is not sustainable. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think you are right. They are going to need a combo of lower entry fees and some sponsorship to make it work.

Well they looked at the odds and getting beat by a pro doesn’t look that appealing for 5k. Make it 1500 bucks.
