Made it home yesterday from Lake Eufaula! Man that lake is full of crappie! If you ever want to just go load the boat that's a great place to do it! We caught fish all over the lake but didn't really find a good concentration of big fish anywhere. We didn't decide where we we're going to fish till check in on day one! We decided to give this place a try till 11 and decide from there. The quality of fish we caught early on day 1 had me concerned but we started getting better fish as the day went on so we decided to stay put! We had 2 areas on this arm we were catching 1.80s and of course the first one was a bust come gametime! Those fish were 1.20s now. We pushed further back in the creek in a creek channel and found a few better fish in the 1.50-1.60 range and finally got a tournament fish about 11 and shortly after that we landed the big one and broke one off bigger that that one! Retie your line after prefishing all week even if everything looks good. We fished 9-18 FOW with 1/8oz Slab Syndicate jigs in Showtime and Popcycle using Jenko X15s. Day one we were tied for 11th place with 5 crappie weighing 10.47 and a big fish of 2.89. My personal best hybrid crappie! Wind was gonna howl day 2 and we knew we were in for tough conditions but decided to push back to our ditch early anyhow and we had nearly the day one weight by 9am. After that it was a long grueling grind fighting the wind and waves. We lost one good fish day 2 that might have helped but nothing like the one that broke off day one. We managed to climb to 7th place and make the check line. Missing hardware by 1 place. Beats missing the check line by 1 place though! Had a great time and couldn't do it without all the fine folks that help us out along the way. Check them out and tell them we sent you! Look forward to Rend Lake next month. It's another lake thats crazy full of crappie and everyone is gonna weight 1.20-1.25! Better put new batteries in the scale now. It's gonna get a workout! I have a couple day's left in May and several June date's if ya'll want to get out and get on a mess of crappie. Fishing has been good and should only get better once more of them finish up the spawn! Thanks ya'll! Slew

I got to Fish Eufala with Todd Huckabee years ago and the lake was even a darker mud red. Amazing how the fish can see the bait.

That is a nice hybrid! The markings are remarkable. Nice big fat belly on that one ol' gal. That helps on the scale. I'm looking forward to getting out on Palestine in a couple of days now! Wow time flies. Keep these reports coming.

Guess it beats not getting the bites though!
