in order to not get charged you need to cut out the label portion of the rod and send that back to them once you get your replacement rod. They include a shipping label with the replacement rod. You don't have to send the whole rod back....makes it a lot more efficient (and cheaper)....that is there policy now for sure (I have an 11 year old who has accidentally "helped" me upgrade an NRX to an NRX+). I can't speak for their Covid era policy....

I have a broken NRX+ that Shimano told me to just throw away and they sent me another one. Is this old broken one good for anything? I call BS on this one. If they are replacing it under warranty or through the expeditor program you have to ship the old rod back with the return label they send or will find a surprise charge on your credit card. Also they want the whole rod back and not just a cut out section like some other manufacturers. Man I swear some people on this forum are ridiculous. Why would I lie about this? It was during covid and they rep said just to do whatever I wanted with the broken one. I forgot I even had it until I was in the garage cleaning up today. Maybe if you were a little nicer people would be more kind back. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2024/04/full-105414-220179-img_1161.jpeg) I believe you. Let us know how that reel seat works out, I would think you could reuse the seat, but the cork may need to replaced on a new build. What blank are you using on your custom? I’m not sure what guides they use in a nrx but if they are torzite fujis I would use those… I’m not as big of a fan of the recoil guides they’ve used on some of their glx rods

Not a fan either.

I don’t like when line somehow gets wrapped in the “loop” on the stripper guide of a spinning rod. I’ve seen braid wear nasty groove in recoils also…but okay I suppose otherwise, just don’t notice a weight difference on a less than 8 for rod, on a 12 or 13 foot steelhead rod maybe ha

Is that the old power tackle? They will build a custom with whatever components you want? Do you know where they source their blanks?

Yep I did a GLX a few months ago and they wanted the whole thing back plust like 125 for processing/replacement. So, I guess we are both just talking to the wrong people/company lol

You have to send the whole rod back if you are looking for warranty coverage. if you are using their Xpeditor program they send you a rod and then you send back the logo piece. Warranty is for product defect. Xpeditor is for accident type damage. The fee for accident varies by rod line ($185 for a conquest, $135 for NRX for exmpale). The warranty is free of chrage but you send the rod in and they try to repair it.

"3. You will receive your replacement rod within a few days (pending on-hand product availability). Out of stock items will ship as soon as they become available. Once the rod arrives, please do the following to complete the process: 1. Remove the replacement rod from the packaging. Inside you’ll find a pre-printed return shipping label. 2. It’s not necessary to return the entire damaged rod. We only require a piece of the blank printed with the logo and model information." The above is from the G loomis website. I've never tried to take one apart and don't know that it can be done but if it will come apart without damage you might consider putting what is left of it on a Mudhole blank.
