I have a broken NRX+ that Shimano told me to just throw away and they sent me another one. Is this old broken one good for anything?

I call BS on this one. If they are replacing it under warranty or through the expeditor program you have to ship the old rod back with the return label they send or will find a surprise charge on your credit card. Also they want the whole rod back and not just a cut out section like some other manufacturers.

Doubtful and GLoomis warranty is through GLoomis not Shimano

Shimano owns GLoomis but it runs as its own independent company.

I see. I tried to get a few glx rods replaced and it got to be such a headache that I threw them in the corner. Maybe I’ll try again some other day.

Go to Loomis's website and if your rods aren't registered do it. You can say it was a gift so no need for proof if purchase. After registering go into the expeditor and do a claim. They will charge you for replacement costs and send a new one with a return label to ship broken rod back. Being its a GLX and they just released the new lineup it may take a while for the replacement but you will most likely get the new model. I had that happen with a NRX and they replaced it with a Plus model but it took a while.

worse warranty out there, it a pain in the !@# and it takes 4-6 months to get your rods back.

Man I swear some people on this forum are ridiculous. Why would I lie about this? It was during covid and they rep said just to do whatever I wanted with the broken one. I forgot I even had it until I was in the garage cleaning up today. Maybe if you were a little nicer people would be more kind back.
