It’s not really that late. Texoma is a big lake and warms up slower. there’s probably a big wave of females, both sandbass and striper waiting at the mouth of the rivers to move up. I almost always found a big wave of females during the first big rain in April on smaller north texas lakes and the hybrids don’t show up good until now, so I’m gonna bet the striper are working the same pattern. That being said, the males tend to stay longer. You’ll always get a wave of small males in the true bass species first, and then you get several runs of males up the creeks even after the females are done. The females also don’t tend to stay up there very long, they swim up and spawn and then head back downstream, the males will stick around.
