I'm newly at risk for skin cancer, so I'm trying my best to wear a full face covering, buff, or whatever you call it. These things bug the [censored] out of me! Even on a warm day, my sunglasses fog up if I breathe through my nose, the fabric gets in the corner of my eyes, etc., etc... How do you experienced folks manage these things?

Hopefully someone has a cheaper option as it's been a couple of years since I have needed one- but Simms Sungaiter is what I landed on after being frustrated by many cheaper options.

Simms or Huk are the way to go. Expensive but worth it.

If your wife has a sewing machine you can save a ton of money. Only thing, you need to be sure the fabric is spf blocking fabric. I also don't like the face "thing", but a couple years ago was gifted a quick dry shirt that had a hood. Now that is all I wear. I still put sunblock on, because I have fair skin but I really like the hood when it's 100 degrees out. If you try a quick dry shirt with a hood, you need to size up two sizes. I'm a XL and I wear the 2x or 3x because I like it baggy, and I dump water over my head in the hot part of the summer. It is much more comfortable if it's not a tight fitting garment. Good luck, and you will figure it out. Stay away from colors like green, and anything dark. These will only collect heat. I did a quick search on Google and most of the fabric is rip stop, or canvas. If you decide to make your own, you may have to do some digging. I was out last year and ran across a guy in distress from heat, his big motor took a poop and it was dead calm. Temp was over 100 and he was doing figure 8's with the trolling motor to get some air across his body. He wasn't thinking straight because he didn't even consider jumping in the lake. I poured water over his head, and relayed him to the fire department boat that was headed out way. You gotta wear the right gear in the cold & hot weather. When he got on the Fire department boat he didn't find a bucket, so he asked if he could have mine. I said no problem, and gave it to him. I sure miss that bucket, was the best emergency poop bucket I ever had. (True story BTW).. There was no reason why I should have been up in that part of the lake, wife said it was a God Wink.

You will get used to them, start wearing some fishing gloves as well. I prefer Fish Monkey for the gloves and Huk or Buff for the facial cover

I have had a few cancers cut out, back on the 10th for another round.

buff for me, light color. try pulling it up in the back to over your head, other side just under your bottom lip, I had to adjust a few times to find what was comfortable for me.

I use a columbia buff. Super lightweight and doesn't fog my glasses. Goes up over my ears and nose.

also highly recommend SPF with zinc in it (per my skin doc). Buddy of mine in Del Rio had skin cancer on his nose and they took out a dime sized chunk and then had to cut his cheek and fold it up to cover the hole. He now wears two buffs over his nose.

A hooded fishing shirt is much more comfortable and allows air flow around your head, hangs down to just above your eyes. That and some sunscreen in your face and good to go. I apply sunscreen every morning on my face so you get used to it.

I can't get used to the full mask either. Sometimes when it's middle of summer I wear it for bit of time. Generally my set up is a sun shirt, shorts, hat, gloves, sunscreen on face, neck and legs. I will also put my hood up when it gets sunny at times, that seems to get some sun off my neck and face. My dermatologist seems to be good with the results.

I've never been able to keep them over my nose without fogging up my glasses. Unfortunately, I just have to use sunscreen on my nose and upper cheeks. But I still use them 100% of the time to keep my neck and ears from getting seared.

Thats my money fish

I have to wear a full face covering. I use a Striker full face mask. It is perforated at the nose area so it doesn't fog up. You just have to put it on and get along with your fishing day. I also use Isdin (high dollar) sun screen. If you fishermen haven't had problems with skin cancer or pre-cancers yet, you will.

The cheap buffs suck and are hot, get a quality one like aqua design, makes all the difference

In the summer, carry two. Keep one in the cooler/on ice. Swap out every so often.
